QR menu for cafés and tea rooms

A Moroccan café lives on small orders repeated all day long: a nus-nus, a mint tea, an orange juice, a msemen. The QR menu lets guests order from their chair, so waiters spend their steps serving instead of taking notes.

Service in a café or tea room

In a café, guests are served at the table and pay at the end, often in cash. Tables fill and empty fast in the morning, then guests stay for a long time in the afternoon and order a second tea or a water. Those small mid-visit orders are the ones that get lost: the waiter walks by, someone calls, he remembers three things and forgets one.

Almost everything goes to the bar: coffee, tea, juice, water. The kitchen, when there is one, mostly makes breakfast and a few plates. So the right setup is a screen or a printer at the bar, and the kitchen for dishes only. On match nights the room fills at once and everyone wants their order before kick-off.

A café bill is small but tables are many. What costs money is not one big mistake, it is a dozen small slips a day: a juice not written down, a table that left without paying during the rush, a cancellation with no reason. A café tool must therefore record every item ordered and every table closed.

A service with Tablilo

  1. 1The guest scans the table's QR and picks tea, coffee or juice in French, Arabic or English.
  2. 2The order reaches the phone of that table's waiter, who confirms with one tap.
  3. 3The bar gets its ticket on screen or on the printer and taps "Ready" when it is done.
  4. 4The guest asks for the bill from the phone, pays cash or by card, and can leave a tip.
  5. 5At night, you see sales, cancellations and each waiter's cash difference.

Frequently asked questions

Will my regulars really scan a QR code?

Those who want to order fast do, especially younger and busy guests. Others keep calling the waiter, who can key their order on his phone. Both reach the same place, the bar and the bill.

Do I need to buy tablets for a café?

No. Waiters use their own phones and the bar can use a tablet or screen you already have. A ticket printer is possible but not required.

What happens on match nights?

You or your manager turn on match mode: match prices apply to the whole room, with a minimum per table if you want. It stops by itself at the start of the next day.
