Ramadan opening hours: ftour, evening and shour

During Ramadan your café or restaurant runs upside down: closed by day, full at ftour, open late until shour. With Tablilo's Ramadan hours you set opening hours and the day start so service follows that rhythm.

The problem: software built for a normal day

During Ramadan the rush hits all at once at ftour, then the evening goes on with tea, msemen and shisha until 2 or 3 am. If your system starts a new day at midnight, the night is cut in two: order numbers restart mid-service and reports mix two days.

Ftour and night service, step by step

Before ftour, guests can already scan the QR code and read the menu. Outside opening hours the menu stays visible but guests cannot order. The waiter can still key an order, for example to prepare reserved tables.

At opening time, orders reach the waiter app and the bar and kitchen screens. Harira, dates and juice go out together, each to its station.

The night stays on the same working day until the day start hour you chose. At that hour order numbers restart at 1, sold-out items come back and waiters enter their PIN again.

Setting Ramadan hours in the dashboard

In settings, under Day, enter your opening hours (optional). Closing after midnight works, for example 18:00 to 03:00.

Set the 'Day start' to an hour when you are closed. For a café open until shour, 7 am is a good choice. For the mood, switch the menu to the Soirée look, dark and warm for Ramadan nights.

Limits and good practice

Tablilo does not know your city's ftour time: you set the hours, and you set them back after Eid, along with your usual day start.

Prepare the Ramadan menu before day one: ftour sets, harira, chebakia, juices. Mark an ingredient sold out as soon as it runs out, and every dish using it greys out until the next day.

Who benefits most

Cafés and tea rooms open until shour benefit most, along with restaurants serving ftour, lounges and rooftops hosting Ramadan evenings, and snack bars open late.

Frequently asked questions

Can guests see the menu before ftour?

Yes. Outside opening hours the menu stays visible, but ordering only works during the hours you set.

Why set the day start to 7 am?

So the whole night until shour counts as one day: order numbers, sold-out items and reports are not cut at midnight.

Do I need to change everything back after Ramadan?

Yes, restore your usual hours and day start, and change the look if you like. It takes a minute.
