Kitchen display screen (KDS) and bar screen

The Tablilo kitchen display screen (KDS) replaces paper slips with a screen. Drinks go to the bar, dishes to the kitchen, each ticket changes colour as it waits, and 'Prêt' alerts the waiter.

The problem: lost slips and dishes going cold

A scribbled slip that falls behind the counter, a waiter shouting the order into the kitchen, a ready dish going cold because nobody saw it: small misses that cost a lot at peak hours.

A kitchen display screen shows every confirmed order at the right station, in order, with its waiting time.

How the kitchen and bar screens work

When the waiter confirms an order, Tablilo splits it: coffees, juices and drinks appear on the bar screen, dishes on the kitchen screen. A waiting ticket turns from green to orange, then red. The cook taps 'Prêt' and the waiter gets an alert on their phone.

For counters, a 'now serving' board shows the order numbers to collect. In counter mode the guest's phone also rings when the order is ready, like a pager.

In restaurants, the guest chooses 'all together' or 'after the meal' when ordering. With 'after the meal', coffee and dessert are held and only reach the screen when the guest sends them from the phone.

Setup in the dashboard

Open the station page (bar or kitchen) on any tablet or screen with a browser. No special hardware to buy. A station without a screen? Its lines count as served as soon as the waiter confirms. If you prefer paper, tickets can also print on a thermal printer.

Limits and good practice

The screen needs internet and must stay on during service: keep the tablet plugged in and turn off sleep. Mount it at eye level, away from splashes. Make tapping 'Prêt' a habit for every dish, or the waiter is never alerted and the colours lose their meaning.

Which venues benefit most

Restaurants with several dishes per table, snacks and pizzerias where the kitchen runs fast, and cafés where the bar makes many drinks at once. The 'now serving' board is mostly for snacks and fast food.

Frequently asked questions

Which tablet do I need?

Any tablet or screen with a recent browser. Tablilo does not require specific hardware.

Do the bar and kitchen see the whole order?

No. Each station sees only its own lines: drinks at the bar, dishes in the kitchen.

Can we keep paper tickets?

Yes. A thermal printer can print bar and kitchen tickets, with or without a screen.

How does the guest know the order is moving?

They follow the status on their phone: sent, preparing, ready, served. When the kitchen taps 'Prêt', the status changes for them too.
